What can I do to help save the Smith?
While we await the final decision by the Montana Supreme Court, regardless of the outcome we will remain staunch defenders and watchdogs of the Smith. Additionally, we are working with Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks on identifying restoration opportunities to improve water quality and quantity for the future.

Supreme Court allows mining initiative to move forward, throwing out industry challenge

Sandfire Resources attempting to influence Montana’s elections process through the Montana Mining Association
Sandfire America, a subsidiary of Sandfire Resources, has paid $20,000 towards a lawsuit to try and keep I-186 off the ballot. I-186 would require the Department of Environmental Quality to deny a permit for new hard rock mines in Montana unless the reclamation plan provides clear evidence that the mine will not require perpetual treatment of water polluted…
