Montana Trout Unlimited Chapter Mini-Grant Program
In 2002, Montana TU’s State Council created three investment funds from which earnings can be used to fund specific projects that further MTU’s mission “to conserve, protect and restore Montana’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds.” The earnings from these funds are meant for projects that are outside MTU’s annual budget. Two of these funds, the Habitat Protection and Enhancement Fund and the Steve Bryant Wild Trout Stewardship Fund, may be tapped for chapter projects in Montana. Proposals are reviewed by the Montana Trout Unlimited executive committee for review and decision.
How to apply: Application deadlines are November 1st & April 1st. Chapters can apply for mini-grant funding using the online application. You will be required to complete a Project Budget and upload it along with submission. Each chapter has been provided a login and password to the online system. For step-by-step instructions watch this video.
Funding availability varies from year to year. We encourage you to contact Montana TU to learn more before submitting a grant application. Call Montana TU at 406-543-0054 or e-mail david@montanatu.org.
Eligibility: Only TU chapters or affiliates in Montana are eligible for funding. Chapter presidents or the presiding officer of a chapter or affiliate must authorize each proposal. Chapters are required to report on the status of mini-grant awards prior to the subsequent application period. For example, if you received a mini-grant in the spring cycle, a final report form or project update form must be completed before the November 1st Fall Cycle deadline. Chapters that have not submitted updates or final reports prior to the deadline are ineligible to receive mini-grant funds until the reporting requirement is fulfilled.
